  • 400 new jobs expected at Toyota’s Woodstock plant

    Toyota Canada recently announced that it will invest $80 million into its Woodstock assembly plant, resulting in a 20% increase in production and the creation of 400 new jobs. The offshoot of such a large investment will be an economic boon for the City of Woodstock in terms of employment, development and service industries.

    The City of Woodstock wants to know what you envision for the former Woodstock Hospital lands. The hospital has relocated to a new site at 310 Juliana Drive. As a result, the former hospital buildings are no longer used or needed by the hospital.

The Winter Carnival at the Woodstock Museum is the perfect remedy for bored kids. It’s hard for families where both parents have to work to find someone to take care of the children; the Winter Carnival is a great solution to that also. Your kids will be properly supervised in a safe environment.

  • Drop by the Woodstock Art Gallery’s new home

    The Woodstock Art Gallery has recently moved to a new home on Dundas Street. The ribbon cutting and grand opening takes place on November 19 at 1:30 pm; refreshments will be sold and Mayor Sobeski will be in attendance. Since it opened in 1967, the gallery has had many homes; finally it has a permanent structure in downtown Woodstock.

  • Nostalgia show and sale will have 200 tables

    The Woodstock Nostalgia Show and Sale will take place on November 20 at the Woodstock Fairgrounds. It will take place in the Oxford Auditorium and the Mutual/Market and will offer 200 vendor tables. Admission is $5 and free for those under 12. Applications are being accepted for vendors who wish to take part; one table costs $55 to rent and two tables cost $105. Visitors are also encouraged to bring items they might want to sell to the various vendors.

  • United Way campaign kicked off in Oxford County

    The 2011 United Way Oxford campaign is well under way; the goal this year is to raise $1.1 million, an increase of $100,000 from last year’s total. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Change Starts Here". The United Way utilizes marketing techniques like poster printing to raise money for 13 member agencies and several partners dedicated to strengthening the community and making it a more pleasant place to live.

    The Downtown Woodstock Business Improvement Association is dedicated to the promotion and beautification of the area. Their aim is to create district branding theme of “the place to Shop, Dine, Work and Play in Woodstock and Oxford County” with a consistent “look, sound and feel” through their Destination Downtown campaign. The look aspect of the campaign refers to a consistent printing design for seasonal street banners, business cards, print ads and inserts giving them a uniform look.
